Barbara | Music Teacher and Naturalist

Hello! I am thrilled to be back to teaching after 4 years as an administrator, as teaching is my true calling. I started as an educator in 1984 when I was hired as a flute teacher teaching flute at the VCU Community School of the Performing Arts. In 2003 I joined BAPP as a teacher in the 4-year-olds class. Since then, I have worn many hats; classroom teacher, naturalist, music teacher, and most recently, director. I have degrees in music and in education, both from VCU.

When I am not at BAPP, you can find me in my studio with flute students, reading a good book, or hiking the trails at Shenandoah National Park. My husband and I love to travel, with our favorite destination being the Caribbean. I am the proud parent of my 27-year-old son, Sam, who is living and working in Richmond, and who is living his best life.

I look forward to working and playing with the children at BAPP this year.
